Ruby Lee Wilfong Bennett, a resident of Deland passed this life peacefully on Monday morning September 15, 2025. She was born Ruby Lee Wilfong April 3, 1946, in Elkins WV as the third child of the late Rosco Silas Wilfong Sr and Helen Proudfoot Wilfong. Ruby was married to Jack Edward Bennett January 18, 1975 who preceded her in death February 28, 1988. Ruby was preceded in death by her brother Roscoe S. Wilfong Jr. and sister Rose E. Spencer. She is survived by her brother Wayne E Jones and wife Dana of Deltona, Fl.
Ruby was the mother of 4 children, John E Summerfield of Buchannon WV., Wendy M Deschenes and husband Mark of Oviedo FL., Donna L Rutter and Husband Matt of Elkins WV., and Marlo L Jones and Husband Paul of Deland FL.
Ruby enjoyed the time she shared with her 7 grandchildren, Jessica Sylvester, Tony “TJ” Sylvester Jr, Kimberly Ann Pharis and husband Tommy, Erica McCarthy and partner Billy, Brittany Rutter, Andru and Weiland Jones as well as her 16 great grandchildren, Rebekah, Autumn, Adisyn, Colton, Paityn, Davis, Abel Sylvester, Brandon & Chloe Pharis, Skylar & Jazlyn McCarthy, Trenton & Owen Knapp, Alaina & Avery Anderson, and Scarlet & Harper Summerfield.
Ruby retired after years of dispatching and driving for a patient transportation company in Volusia County, FL. Ruby was a long-time resident in Deland but missed and often visited her home town of Elkins WV. She enjoyed entertaining and spending time with family and friends.
The family will share details of celebration of life at a later date. Ruby will be interred in beside her late husband at Elizabeth Chapel Cemetery in Bacon County Ga.
