Margot Jeanine (Eberhart) Thomas of Lake Mary, FL passed away peacefully on May 8, 2024 at Brookdale Senior Living Community in Lake Mary, FL. Margot’s daughters, Jeanine and Kerry, along with VITAS Healthcare nurses and Brookdale staff provided comfort in her final hours.
Margot was born in Niagara Falls, NY on Feb. 19, 1943 to George P. and Isabelle E. (Nettie Wackett) Eberhart. She graduated from Niagara Falls High School and attended SUNY Oswego and SUNY Buffalo, earning a BA in History. Margot enjoyed success in her career working in various capacities at Carborundum, Nitec Paper Corporation, Scott Aviation, CIS Corporation, Bennett Funding, Intermedia Communications (Worldcom), Verizon, and as a model for Home Shopping Network. Her favorite role was not on the job, but in the lives of her family and friends.
Margot married Daniel E. Thomas in 1963 and they raised 3 children together, Michael, Jeanine, and Kerry. Their lives revolved around their extended families and close-knit friends. These groups provided the place for Margot to shine, earning nicknames like “The Lady of the Lake” and “Legs”.
A childhood friend introduced Margot to her second husband, Edward M. Kaszycki, and they moved together to Syracuse, NY then to Safety Harbor, FL and Las Vegas, NV. Retirement and Las Vegas opened the door to world travel. Margot made trips with Ed to Turkey and Belize, and toured Italy with her daughters.
Travel was exciting, but Florida was the place Margot loved most. She made her way back to Lake Mary, FL and became part of the Brookdale Lake Mary Community. Community residents and staff alike were entertained by Margot’s endless energy and vitality. Everyone knew that when the music started, Margot was ready to move. Margot will be remembered by all as the lady in red who adored her family, enjoyed her wine, and loved to dance!
Margot is survived by 2 daughters Jeanine (Gregory) Roth and Kerry Taibi, 2 step-sons Michael and Marc Brenner, 3 grandchildren Alexa N. and Andrew M. Roth, and Helena M. Brenner, her sister Marcia (Silvio) DeRubeis, and multiple nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, son Michael Thomas, husband Edward Kaszycki, sister Lucille Pecoraro, and brother George Eberhart.
A private memorial will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to Safehouse of Seminole County Safehouse of Seminole Safehouse of Seminole | Donate to honor Margot’s love of family or to Pet Rescue by Judy Welcome to Pet Rescue By Judy Donate (paypal.com) to honor her love for her pets.
