Wanda B. (Wolf) Staines, age 62, of Ballston Lake, NY passed away peacefully at home after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family on Monday, April 17, 2023. Wanda, the daughter of Paul and Grace Wolf was born in Holyoke, MA on November 2, 1960. As a young child she moved to Ballston Lake, where she lived until her retirement in 2020. She then began splitting her time between Ballston Lake, NY and Oviedo, FL. She moved full time to Oviedo in 2022.
Wanda was a graduate of Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School. She then returned back to BHBL in 1989 as a school employee. She worked there for 29 years in food service.
Wanda was a people pleaser and always made everyone feel welcome in her home. One of her favorite things was having the whole family over for dinner and ending the night with a family game. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren; playing video games, baking, introducing them to their first cup of coffee, watching her grandson’s play baseball, watching her granddaughter’s dance recitals, or having them all over to Nana’s for sleepovers.
She enjoyed taking weekend car rides in the Camaro with her husband, Paul, exploring the back roads of New England and the Amish country of Pennsylvania.
Wanda was always listening to country music. Her love for country music started at a very young age while listening to her dad play in his band. A highlight for her was finally getting to go to Dollywood last year.
Wanda is survived by her devoted husband, Paul Staines; her loving children, Amy Staines, John (Jennifer) Staines; her grandchildren, Abigail Adair, Chase Wilcox, Jacob, Emily and Sarah Staines, her siblings, Lorraine (Thomas) Russo, Paul (Shirley) Wolf, Cheryl (George) Baumgardner, Tammy Wolf (Paul King) ; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Paul and Grace Wolf, her siblings, Brenda King and Floyd Wolf and her niece (goddaughter) Trista Russo.
A private memorial will be held. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to a charity of your choice in her memory.
