Stephen “Scott” Tribbey, 65, passed away on October 5, 2023, peacefully at home in Orlando, Florida, with his loving wife, Elizabeth, and family by his side.
Scott was born in New Albany, Indiana, in 1958, the first son of David and Patricia Tribbey. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 44 years, Elizabeth Tribbey, and their three sons, Stephen John Tribbey, Christopher Scott Tribbey (Kathrine), and Ryan James Tribbey.
Scott will be most remembered for his unmatched ability to bring the best out of everyone around him. Scott had a great deal of love in his heart and successfully—always—held himself to the standard of being a good man who meaningfully and consistently contributed to the lives of those who knew him.
Scott’s childhood was filled with adventure. The second eldest of 4 siblings, Scott served as the family outdoor leader—learning early how to pitch a tent and drive a boat. A dedicated Eagle Scout, Scott appreciated nature and loved to camp, ski, boat, fish, scuba dive, and work with his hands. His father’s career helped Scott see the country, having resided in more than 9 different cities before settling in Lajas, Puerto Rico, where Scott met and fell in love his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth.
After they were wed, Scott and Elly relocated to Florida, where Scott began his successful career at IBM. Scott went on to support our nation’s space program in Cape Canaveral for many years and, eventually, retired from General Electric in 2016. Scott and Elly put down roots for their family in Oviedo, Florida, where they raised their three sons and shared many years with their beloved Maltese, Mindy.
Scott never lost his love of adventure. Captivated by the Island of Enchantment, Scott and his family created many memories exploring the vast mountains and waters of Puerto Rico. At home, Scott developed a passion for gardening that filled his life with color and brought beautiful flowers, butterflies, and birds to his garden. Scott was also an avid runner and approached running with the same resolve and intellect he used to confront life’s challenges and turn them into opportunities. Scott will be greatly missed and forever held in the hearts of those who love him.
The Tribbey Family will hold a Celebration of Life in honor of Scott at the New Hope for Kids Center for Grieving Children in Maitland, Florida, at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2023.
