Michael T. Scanlon, 76, of Orlando, Florida, passed away on June 11, 2026.
Born on March 5, 1950, Michael was a talented artist whose creativity and imagination shaped
both his career and his personal life. He built a successful career in visual merchandising for
department stores, where his eye for design, fashion, and aesthetics enabled him to create
beautiful, inspiring spaces. Beyond his profession, he was passionate about painting, interior
design, and fashion, and he approached life with an artist's perspective and appreciation for
beauty.
Michael shared a remarkable love story with his wife, Janet Scanlon. Married on May 5, 1973,
when Michael was 23 and Janet was 22, they built a life together that spanned more than five
decades. Their bond was made even more special by the fact that they shared the same birthday,
March 5. Together, they created a loving home centered on family, laughter, and unwavering
support.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Janet
Scanlon; his children, Patrice Scanlon, Russell Scanlon and his wife, Catie Scanlon, and Kyle
Scanlon and his wife, Aimee Scanlon; and his cherished grandchildren, Julian Scanlon, Owen
Scanlon, and Kellan Scanlon.
As the oldest of eleven children, Michael was an important presence in a large and loving family.
He is survived by his siblings Kathie Scanlon, Marty Scanlon, Eileen Scanlon, Matt Scanlon,
Mark Scanlon, Mace Scanlon, Larry Lott, Darlene Ghents, and Kevin Scanlon.
Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Florence Scanlon; his father, Michael Scanlon; his
stepmother, Jean Scanlon; and his brother, Allan Lott.
Those who knew Michael will remember his infectious sense of humor, his quick wit, and his
ability to make people laugh. He loved to dance and never missed an opportunity to enjoy music
and celebrate life's moments. Whether he was sharing a joke, telling a story, creating art, or
spending time with family, Michael brought warmth, joy, and laughter wherever he went.
Michael's legacy is one of creativity, love, resilience, and family. He leaves behind countless
memories that will continue to bring comfort and smiles to those who knew and loved him.
Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit lives on in the lives he touched and the family he
cherished.
