Michael “Shane” Abner, age 49, passed away on March 13, 2024. He was a beloved father, grandfather, husband, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Born on March 26, 1974 in Hamilton, OH, Shane was the youngest child of Michael Edward Abner and Carolyn Ann Abner. He served his country in the Navy, was a policeman, realtor, referee and coach.
But more than anything, Shane was a devoted father. He loved spending time with his children, sharing stories, enjoying the great outdoors and supporting their extracurricular activities. He was always there to offer guidance, support, and encouragement, no matter what challenges they faced.
In his free time Shane enjoyed his sports, music and movies. These three areas of interest were his passion that led him to coach numerous teams, attend 100’s of concerts and own a large library of movie selections. He was known for his infectious laughter, his kind heart, and his willingness to help others.
Shane is survived by his loving wife, Amy, his children, Myranda, Olivia and Nate, his grandchild, Bryson, his sister and brother-in-law Lisa and Laurent Carrasco, niece Ana, nephew Sam, and sisters Dawn Abner and Leslie Closson. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him. A Celebration of Life will be held in early May, details will be provided as soon as available. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Back to Nature Wildlife Refuge (https://www.btnwildlife.org/donate/)
“A final song, a last request
A perfect chapter laid to rest
Now and then I try to find
A place in my mind
Where you can stay
You can stay away forever
How do I live without the ones I love?
Time still turns the pages of the book it's burned
Place and time always on my mind
I have so much to say but you're so far away”
So Far Away, Avenged Sevenfold
