Obituary for Michael Johnson

Michael Allen Johnson, age 64, of Deltona, FL, passed away on August 4, 2023 at his son’s home. He was born in Amsterdam, NY, on January 11, 1959. He graduated from Fort Plain High School where he was active in wrestling and Track and Field. While on a cross country motorcycle trip after graduation, Michael enlisted in the United States Navy in Denver, Colorado. He worked as an Electronics Warfare Systems Technician Operator and received an honorable discharge seven years later.

He continued his career working as an Electronics Technician and then later a Laser Technician at L3 Harris.


Michael loved spending time with his children, golfing, watching the Florida Gators sports teams, listening to classic rock music, and enjoying a home cooked meal with a meat, vegetable and starch each night.


He was preceded in death by his mother, Etta Johnson; father, Jesse Johnson; brother, Dennis Johnson; sister, Nancie Darling Pelliccio; and the family dog, Roxy. He is survived by his son, Nicholas Johnson; daughter, Kaitlin Mullen (Chris); granddaughter, Emily Mullen; sisters, Judy Rivenburgh (Albert), and Susan Mulhall (Kevin); brothers, Mark Johnson (Lisa), and Travis Johnson; several nieces and nephews; several great nephews and great nieces; and his beloved granddog, Charlie.

Anyone that had the pleasure of knowing Michael, knew of his big heart and his quirky sense of humor. He touched the lives of many people and he will be fondly remembered.


Memorial service at Florida National Cemetery will be private.
