Joan Elizabeth Northrop (Nolan) Jahosky

Joan Elizabeth Northrop (Nolan) Jahosky was born in Bay Shore, New York on August 26, 1942. Joan was the daughter of John Harold Northrop and Marion Rubino Northrop. After the death of her mother, she was adopted by her maternal aunt Eloise Nolan.
Joan was a 1960 graduate of West Islip High School. Joan earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York. She received her Master’s Degree in Education from Hofstra University and was a lifelong learner and educator.
Joan is survived by her children Janna, David (Anna), and Jeanne Jahosky; two granddaughters Jordan Jahosky and Hannah (Jack) Jahosky; and one great granddaughter Kit.
Joan was a beloved mother, grandmother (“Gamma”), sister, aunt, and friend as well as a huge animal lover. She was a two-time cancer survivor.
Joan was a Disney enthusiast and loved spending time visiting theme parks with her family and friends.
She died peacefully on Sunday February 25,2024, surrounded by her family.
The family is planning a celebration of life to honor Joan’s legacy.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the American Cancer Society.
