James Anthony John (Tony), 77, of Lakeland, FL. passed away on September 23 at Advent Celebration Hospital in Kissemmee, FL. Tony was born and spent the first 20 years of life in Brattleboro, VT. Graduating from St. Michael’s High School, he then served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Viet Nam war and will be buried in the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida on January 12, 2023 at 2:30PM.
Tony was an entertainer for all his life, performing right up to a few months before he passed on. That was surely his passion and he will be remembered for his singing and keyboard prowess. His second passion was the Boston Red Sox. He would quote statistics and strategies relevant to the team and truly enjoyed nothing better than a good game. Of course, the same is true of the New England Patriots and Tom Brady. And, of course, above and beyond all these life attributes was his sincere enjoyment and love of family and friends, with whom he shared many memories.
Tony will be missed by his sister Jo-Anne Bowman and her husband Bill, daughter Lisa John and good friends Gina, Pam, George, Mike and many others who shared his love of entertainment with him. He was also a devout Christian attending Catholic services in Lakeland, Florida for the last few years of his life.
