Gloria Debasa de Garcia passed away on August 14 at the age of 83. Pre-deceased in July 2020, by her devoted husband Francisco, she will be lovingly remembered by her two children and their spouses, Frank (Andrea) and Carmen (Sergio), her only grandchild, Sergio Francisco, and, her sister-in-law, Maria (and her husband Juan Manolo and their two children Andy and Carlos), as well as several cousins in the United States, Spain and Cuba.
Born in Havana, Cuba, she was one of two daughters of Spanish immigrants, Constantino and Severina. Her sister, Margot, also pre-deceased her in August 2014.
In 1962, Gloria and Francisco left Cuba with their two young children (ages 2 ½ years and 14 days old) and Gloria’s mother, to escape the Castro regime. Starting anew in the US, the family settled in New Jersey before moving to Florida in 1999. Gloria worked at Mount Sinai Hospital until retiring to care for her mother in 1976.
A private service for family will be held on Saturday September 24th at All Faiths Memorial Park, 1390 Park Drive, Casselberry, FL 32707
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association to help others suffering from dementia.
