Dorothy Virginia Long, 83 was born in Cornelia, Georgia and passed away with her loving family by her side on July 20, 2024, at her home in Winter Springs. Dorothy was married to Herbert Long on July 18, 1962, at First Baptist Church of Tucker in Tucker, Georgia and they were married for 62 years.
She is survived by her husband Herb and her daughter Deborah Long, grandchildren, Ashton Bryson and son-in-law, Stuart Bryson, Spencer Stephens and daughter-in-law Alicia Stephens, Blake Stephens and great grandchildren, Sophia Bryson, Isla Bryson and Henry Bryson, Brother Bill Roper, and his Wife Diane.
Dorothy was an affectionate, dedicated and hardworking woman who always put the needs of others ahead of her own. Born in Cornelia, Georgia, she lived most of her life in Georgia until moving with Herb to Oviedo, Florida in 1996. Dorothy was known for her compassionate nature and giving spirit. She was a faithful member of her church for many years and was always ready to lend a helping hand and offer words of comfort to whomever needed it.
Dorothy was a woman of great faith, a Christian, a prayer warrior, having always set an example of faith and love for her family and those around her. She loved to read, scrapbooking and spending time with her family. She loved holidays, especially Christmas and the decorating that went with it.
The entire family wishes to extend our sincere and heartfelt gratitude for all of the love and compassion. Our words cannot express how much we appreciate all of the many people who sat with her while she was sick, brought us meals and all the many things that were done that went above and beyond.
A “Celebration of Life” will be held on July 24, 2024, 10:00 am visitation, 11:00 am Celebration of Life service at CrossLife Church located at 45 W. Broadway St., Oviedo, FL 32765. A burial and grave site service will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 US-1, Mims, FL 32754.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to CrossLife Christian Academy at 45 W. Broadway St., Oviedo, FL 32765 or CrossLife Church.
