In Loving Memory of Darlene Rutledge
August 18, 1950 – January 28, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Darlene Rutledge. She cared deeply for all her friends and family, touching the lives of all who knew her.
Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, Darlene grew up the oldest of four and attended Kamehmeha Schools before starting her adventures on the mainland. She spent most of the last 40+ years in Georgia raising her family and worked as an Executive Legal Assistant before going back to nursing school 20 years ago. She was a devoted nurse and caregiver to her patients and really missed them when she retired.
Mom had one of the most infectious laughs and cherished every opportunity to spend time with family and friends. She enjoyed movies, musicals, crafts, and playing cards. You were lucky if you had the chance to enjoy her famous oatmeal cookies or delicious home cooked meals. She dedicated her life to her family, always ensuring that love, laughter, and delicious food filled our home.
Darlene is survived by her sister and husband Beverly and Steve Langley, brother and wife Wes and Peggy Luke, sister and husband Wendy and Joey Butterworth; her loving children and their spouses, Tina McFadden and Joe Collins, Bryan and Sheila Morens, Ben and Lara Morens, Matthew and Amber Rutledge; her cherished grandchildren, Kayla, Kenzie, Kaili, Malia, Dylan, Addison, Enoch, Olyvia, Alana and Ireland, and her beautiful great grandchildren Addisyn, Aubree and Brodie.
A small celebration of her life will be held later this fall for immediate family to gather and honor her memory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Heart Association.
Though she is no longer with us in body, her love, lessons, and legacy will remain in our hearts forever.
Rest in peace, Mom. You will always be loved and deeply missed.
